It is based on AWDI's partnership with the U.K.'s foremost, award winning Consumer Advisory Service, NRWAS, who has been providing Insurance-Backed Warranties to their home improvement customers throughout the United Kingdom since 1992.

AWDI is a pioneer in independent certification and consumer protection, specializing in providing standards for home improvements. AWDI sets and enforces strict requirements upon companies that are rated Best1, and upon dealers and installers who earn certification in order to protect customers from unscrupulous home improvement companies.

Before being awarded Best1 Status, each AWDI approved dealer must undergo stringent checks for minimum product standards, financial stability, professional installation, and customer care. Only if the results of these checks are satisfactory can AWDI award Best1 status, and only Best1 dealers and installers can offer the AWDI Insurantee® Program to their customers.

Qualifying for Best1 is only the beginning. AWDI certified dealers and installers must maintain the highest standards to retain their status and are continually monitored.

The AWDI Insurantee® Program offers three protections:

1. Deposit Protection- The AWDI Insurantee® Program will safeguard any deposit paid to the value of $5,000, for a period of three months. The AWDI Best1 dealer or contractor will contact the AWDI Insurantee® Center at the time the deposit is paid and obtain your deposit indemnity protection number. Coverage is immediate and can be confirmed by phone at our Toll Free number, or on our web site within 24 hours.
In the event that the selling dealer or contracting company ceases to trade during that time, the AWDI Insurantee® Program will arrange for the contract to be completed by an alternate AWDI certified company, for the balance of the contract price, less any deposit already paid. If the AWDI Insurantee® Program cannot arrange the satisfactory completion of the contract, the deposit becomes refundable to you - in full.

2. Product Guarantee Protection- Upon satisfactory completion of your home improvement, the AWDI Insurantee® Program will issue a Certificate of Performance. In the event that the manufacturer ceases to trade, the AWDI Insurantee® Program will back the product guarantee(s), under the same terms and conditions - for a full 5 years.

3. Installation Guarantee Protection- Upon satisfactory installation of the product(s), the AWDI Insurantee® Program will include installation protection in the Certificate of Performance. In the unlikely event that the installing contractor(s) ceases to trade, the AWDI Insurantee® Program will back their installation guarantee, under the same terms and conditions - for a full 5 years.

On-The-Job-Inspection- Further adding to your peace of mind, you will be able to refer to and fill out the AWDI Satisfactory Completion Form that is comprehensive and designed to detect problems and potential service issues with the product and installation before the dealer or contractor leaves the job.

Claim Inspection - In the unlikely event that an AWDI Best1 dealer ceases doing business and you have a product or installation related problem, AWDI will assign an inspector, registered and licensed as an independent home inspector, to perform the inspection work. These inspectors will be skilled in determining exactly what needs to be done, and in most instances will perform the basic remedial work not requiring product or component replacement or re-installation.

If the claim requires more extensive work, based on the in-home inspection, AWDI will assign an AWDI Certified Best1 dealer or contractor to make good on
the applicable product and installation warranties.
